EndoTherm Poultry House install shows 20.6% saving.

 

The climate in poultry houses influences the well being, health and thus profitability of stock. Temperature control is one of the most important aspects of poultry brooding as chicks don’t have the ability to regulate their body temperature until they are 12-14 days old. Producers need to ensure that the floor temperatures of any shed are pre-heated to between 28°C – 30°C with an air temperature of up to 33°C to aid floor heating. Poultry farmers are therefore always on the look-out for new technologies that will allow them to reduce this overhead without compromising on the health and profitability of their stock.

EndoTherm, an independently proven and verified energy saving additive was identified as a viable option for poultry farms. With the majority of EndoTherm installations to date being domestic and commercial space heating systems this was a new application for the product. A six month observation period was followed on a three shed poultry farm which began in June 2016 and ran for six months over several crops.

A 195kW biomass boiler provides heating to the sheds with a 400kW LPG Boiler on standby to act as a backup. The usage in 2016 was compared with the usage from the same period in 2015 and compensated for variances in weather using Heating Degree Days. Over the six months, there was a 20.6% reduction in fuel consumption at the site. A 20.6% reduction was calculated to be equivalent to 87MWh of heat, amounting to a financial saving of over £2,500. The projected return on investment (ROI) for this project is 7-8 months.

EndoTherm improves heat transfer within heating systems allowing them to be more reactive to changes in demand. EndoTherm reduces boiler run times while allowing a lower return temperature back to the boiler. This lower return temperature allows condensing boilers to operate more efficiently.
